Karwa-Chauth
KarwaChauth ... in my home my mom never had any vrats. My friends used to do the vrat in high school and I would think .. I wanted to do that too. My dad never liked the idea of me staying hungry.Once I just threatened my dad that if I wont get my own Kinetic Honda, I am not going to eat at all.Guess what- I got my own scooter. Of course he never ever liked the idea of me hungry. He would try his best to change my mind. The first time I had my vrat I forgot within few hours and hence no vrat. Next year it stayed about an hour longer. It was a pretty good joke that Harpreet ne vrat rakhya hai. Acha.. chalo is saal dupair tak rah jayega .. Kuldeep Aunti from office, Ravi Aunti they would really enjoy the talk, so how long the fasting lasted this year? Funny.
BA first year or may be in grade 12 .. me and Simran, my best friend did the fasting together. All the mehndi, chooriyan, movies.. fun things and then till we were in college I was pretty good at it. My dad would say - Now you got all the things you wanted new dress, bangles, henna.. now let go the idea of fasting. Even today I remember those days. Mehndi and talk. friends and fun. Vrats during N.S.S. Camps. Good times.. Memories !!
