Current Punjab
From last few days there are elections in Punjab and most of you all know its not the provincial elections but Federal. couple of years ago they had provincial and the people of Punjab elected the same party who was ruling from last five years again.My concern isn't the ruling party only but the people.Bad Ruling Party:- The people who are complaining for ever about how bad the ruling party is and yet they vote for them again. Many others say it was the fake votes etc. but I must add that it isn't possible to have all of them fake coz the people voted as well for them.Once again my concern is - If the ruling party was bad, really bad and bad people were ruling the streets as well, drugs were sold and girls getting kidnapped, people being murdered - no, I am not talking about a bollywood movie but about the state of Punjab as described by the people on Facebook.If everything was bad from all those years why on the earth people voted for them? Why elect same corrupt or crooks? Another concern of Punjabi people is - bad songs which is ruining the glorious culture and drugs which is again running the glorious youth.
Bad Songs:- I will start with this. If there are bad songs or cd's in the stores or iTunes what do you do?Simple - Don't buy it.You don't get up and start demanding the ban on the singers or their shows. Isn't it? All those people who banned a certain singer seemed to be working for the competition coz when the shows of one singer were banned the other singer sold - "sold out" shows.It is not a singer who can ruin a culture but the people who are paying and buying the music. People have to take responsibility as well. Lately in India the music is not what it used to be but populist music, which means the singers only release what people want to listen. Who is at fault?Answer is clear but you can deny if you want to.Drugs:- I read other day a mother's plea on Facebook photo that her son is into drugs because of Badal Sarkar and how she hates him etc. Now she is concerned that once her son goes out of the rehab he will be back into the drugs.Please read it again.Now when you have read it again, I would ask you a simple question. Who is responsible for our kids. Us, Parents or a political party or government ?? I would say - Parents not anyone else.Isn't it parents responsibility to teach the kids better morals from the beginning?Many people complain their kids are into drugs? I would like to ask them - Did they spend time with their kids and teach them what is right and what is wrong coz we don't tell a adult about all these but create a strong foundation so they make right choices.If as a parent the right things haven't been taught why curse anyone else but themselves?Now this mother who was cursing the government - I would like to ask her - when she will be back home with her adult son, how can he fall back in the habit if he knows the consequences? Responsibilities? How could he have fallen prey to free drugs the first day if he has known better and taught better?Isn't it time to take responsibility and change your own society by one step at a time?Governments should bring industry and jobs in the state not worry about a broken street that is the city councils job.Who elects the city council??People!!When people are not doing their job from the very first step how can they blame corrupt leaders or drug lords?There is a simple rule in Economics - Supply and Demand.If there is Supply of drugs and corruption, don't buy it.When there is no demand, the supplier has to take his shop somewhere else.You don't like bad songs, don't listen. Don't like drugs, don't buy. Don't like corrupt leaders, don't vote for them.Instead of saying - "Sanu ki" its time to take responsibility and make one change at a time. There is no Superhero coming. You have to be the Superhero of your own community and society.Don't look for good leader but be the one you want others to be.Take one step at a time and it is all in your range to achieve.You can do it. I can do it. We all can do it.We all can be the change we want others to be.Real Character of a community is displayed when the free stuff is served and how they react to it.What is the character we Punjabis got and displaying???
